Calculation before interpretation
Where possible, future tools will separate factual inputs and calculations from the interpretation of whether a job, offer or change feels worthwhile. A result can show a rate or comparison; it cannot know your priorities, health, caring responsibilities, career goals or tolerance for travel and stress.
Multiple useful measures
- Headline hourly equivalent: pay divided by contracted working hours.
- Net hourly rate: a take-home view after relevant deductions.
- Time-committed rate: work time plus required travel or other work-related time.
- Spendable work rate: income after work-related costs.
- Total compensation rate: salary and employer-provided benefits considered together.
Assumptions and limitations
When calculators are added, assumptions should be stated near the result. Tax, pension, student-loan and benefit rules can change, and personal circumstances matter. WorthMyTime will avoid presenting outputs as personalised financial advice.
